“Jo’burg Child Welfare has tasked 100 South Africans to take a door and use it to tell a story. These stories are about children that have come and gone through our doors, the people that have opened their hearts and homes to children in desperate need & the social workers and care-givers who help make this all possible.”
The JCW 100 Doors of Hope Project coincides with their 100th anniversary. Check out these images of a few of the doors taken at an exhibition in the Hyde Park Shopping Centre.

From 11 June until 11 July Wits Journalism will operate an international news room with 31 student reporters – 16 from Wits Journalism, five from City University, London, and 10 from the Beijing Foreign Studies University. Working with experienced, international mentors, the students will focus on stories around the World Cup. They will not chase the same stories as everyone else, but seek out the unusual material in and around the event. The students will publish a collection of words, photographs, audio and visual clips on a range of themes, which will all be available on this site. News editors who are interested in using the material produced by our students can contact Jeremy Gordin at Jeremy.gordin@wits.ac.za, or feel free to contact him for any other queries. All we ask is that you give the student a by-line and acknowledge Wits Journalism (at the end of the story/photo/clip). And send us a copy of the published/broadcast material for the students’ portfolio.
